    Biocruces Bizkaia Health Research Institute is a scientific institution created by the Department of Health of the Basque Government, the Basque Health Service (Osakidetza), The University of the Basque Country, the Basque Foundation for Innovation and Research (BIOEF) and BBK Fundazioa.



    Main functions

    Collection of questionnaires of the participants, recruited through the different Centers (Hospital de Galdakao-Usansolo, CSM of Gernika-Mental Health Network of Bizkaia, University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU, and Basque Center on Brain, Language and Cognition). Correction of questionnaires. Introduction of the data in the database, using the statistical program SPSS. Possibility of participating in the process of interpretation and dissemination of the results.



    Requisites

    Requirements: Preferably graduated in psychology. Knowledge of Euskera demonstrable (level equivalent to C1). Knowledge of the statistical program SPSS. That no more than five years have elapsed since the completion of the studies. In the case of having a disability certificate, no more than seven years have elapsed. 

    Eligibilty Criteria: Knowledge of English (at least B2) (score 0 – 20). Prior experience in research will be valued (score 0 – 35). Interest in psychometrics and the possibility of completing the doctoral thesis (score 0 – 35). Minimal disability certificate of 33% (score 0 – 10).

    Duration: 6 months. 

    Work day: 100% working day. 

    Annual gross remuneration: 15.602,00 annual gross euros (60% 26.003,00 euros).

    Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the CFD group (Ikerbasque Prof. Marco Ellero) at BCAM.

    The focus of the project will be on the accurate modelling of the interaction of submerged structures with complex rheological fluids representing seabed sediments. The latter feature is critical for the stabilization of floating platforms (e.g. offshore wind turbines) and the design of improved anchoring technologies for marine applications.

    A novel aspect of this project will be represented by the simulation of the fluid-structure interaction with the soft soil phase. This is a complex liquid-solid material (e.g. sands, clay etc.) formed by a suspension of fine particles in water. A varying concentration of the dispersed phase can lead to different complex rheological behaviour ranging from yield-stress, shearthinning and viscoplastic effects. For a quantitative description of the full structure-fluid-seabed interaction problem, an accurate multiphase non-Newtonian model is required.

    The candidate will develop a multiphase model based on the meshless Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method to study several drag-embedded anchoring systems interacting with seabeds under different loading conditions. Simulation results will be validated against experimental data for scaled-down systems reproduced in the water tank facilities available at the Department of Fluid Mechanics at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

    The project will be performed in collaboration with the Nuclear Engineering and Fluid Mechanics Department and the Geodynamics Department (UPV/EHU) and Tecnalia Research & Innovation.

    Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in computational biomicrofluidics at the CFD group (BCAM).

    The focus of the project will be on multiscale modelling of the dynamics and adhesion of cells using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics and Dissipative Particle Dynamics methods. In many biological processes it is important to predict accurately the cellular transport, separation and deposition close to walls in presence of a complex unsteady flow. This is critical to control drug delivery and/or cellular sorting under microfludics conditions, but also for the understanding of several cardiovascular pathologies such as, for example, atherosclerosis. This is a degenerative disease of the arterial wall that is thought to be initiated due to inflammation of the arterial endothelium, promoting the over-deposition of white blood cells. This anomalous WBC accumulation is sitespecific and can lead to initial stage lesions or, on a long-term timescale, atherosclerotic plaques. To study these complex flow problems, we have recently developed a multiscale transport model for leukocytes and coupled it to an endothelial cell receptor binding model in order to link the flow transport and surface biology.

    The postdoctoral candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Marco Ellero (CFD group, BCAM) on the developments and use of novel mesoscopic particle-simulation methods to better understand the dynamics and adhesion of cells under microfluidics conditions.

    This task will be performed in collaboration with Prof. Jesus Ruiz-Cabello (CIC Biomagune) and the eHealth and Biomedical Department of VICOMTECH, an applied research centre in the Basque Country working on innovative technological solutions in the biomedical sector.

    Main functions

    FUNCIONES:

    • Negociación de las compras de materias primas.

Por lo tanto, tiene que ser capaz de dirigir personas, evaluar su actividad, generar feedback, desarrollarlas, manteniendo niveles altos de capacitación, motivación y autonomía de estas.     Competencias técnicas: ligadas a la ingeniería del software

    A research position in ecoinformatics and modelling of coupled human-environmental systems using a combination of techniques, including agent-based modelling, machine learning and earth observation. We are looking for an individual who can support strategic activities related to integrated data science and collaborative, integrated modeling on the semantic web (semantic meta-modelling).     Requisites

    Main requirements:

    1. The applicant must have a degree in computer science, ecology, geography, engineering, or other fields of relevance to ecoinformatics. A very strong background in computational modelling is required, along with programming skills (any language and in particular Python, Java, R and Julia).
    2. Familiarity with any of the following methods is an asset: agent-based modelling, network analysis, Bayesian network modelling, system dynamics. Being initiated to ontologies, artificial intelligence, and machine reasoning is desirable. Familiarity with any of the following technologies is an asset: Git, GeoServer, Linux, RESTful web services, openCPU, JSON.
    3. The applicant must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent written and oral command of English is required. An ability to work in teams and experience in the use of collaborative software platforms and distributed version control systems are necessary.

    The research will be focused on the study of existing and novel chemical reactions and thermochemical cycles for thermal energy storage and fuel production (initial focus on hydrogen production). The final objective of the research is the development of advanced materials and systems that can be implemented in a real application (TES and fuel production in solar power plants and Industrial environment). 

     

     

    The research work will include the identification and selection of promising materials and thermochemical cycles (two-steps and multi-steps), the synthesis of tailor made materials (e.g. mixed oxides), the study of the performances when subjected to repetitive cycles involving different reactions steps (reduction, hydration) and the full thermophysical characterization. The systems studied will also be tested in specially designed laboratory scale prototypes (CIC energiGUNE facilities) to determine the reactivity at a more relevant scale (grams). The candidate will have the chance to work in a multidisciplinary environment composed by Chemists, Physicists and Engineers having the possibility to extend his/her knowledge approaching the research under different points of view.

    Main functions

    La persona seleccionada se integrará en el Departamento de Ingeniería como Ingeniero de Sistemas / Electrónicos. El área de Sistemas se encarga de la componente más funcional del diseño de los trenes entendido como qué prestaciones debe ofrecer el tren y cómo ha de funcionar para proporcionarlas.

    Una parte importante de la funcionalidad del tren reside en sus sistemas o equipos principales que se clasifican en equipos de Potencia (tracción / generación energía), Electromecánicos (freno, puertas, HVAC) y Electrónicos (confort y control). El puesto que se ofrece corresponde al subárea de equipos electrónicos.

    La persona seleccionada se encargará de la gestión técnica de los sistemas electrónicos. De su definición , análisis técnico de las ofertas, diseño (integración mecánica, eléctrica e informática de los sistemas en el tren) y validación (previo y en el tren).

    Para ello tendrá un contacto continuo con el cliente final (interpretación técnica de Contrato, aprobación diseño y validación del mismo), el proveedor y resto de departamentos de CAF.



    Requisites
    • Estudios mínimos: Ingeniería Superior -  Ingeniero en Automática y Electrónica Industrial
    • Experiencia mínima:  Al menos 2 años
    • Conocimientos necesarios: Integración sistemas, equipos electrónicos, Ingeniería Telecomunicaciones/Electrónica

    Main functions

    CIC energiGUNE is looking for an experienced Post-doctoral Researcher to incorporate in the group of systems engineering and technology transfer in the thermal energy storage (TES) area.

    The research will be focused on modelling, designing and testing of a lab-scale thermal energy storage prototype, based on innovative latent heat storage technology for industrial processes. The final objective of the research is the development of advanced models and systems that can be implemented in a real industrial application.

     

     

    The research work will include the identification and selection of commercial PCM materials suitable for the application, the development of numerical models for a packed bed configuration, combining phase change in both the PCM and the heat transfer fluid and finally, the design, construction and testing of a lab-scale prototype, aimed to validate and improve the models and technology. The research will be developed in the frame of an industrial project so there will be opportunities to work close to the real application. The candidate will have the chance to work in a multidisciplinary environment composed by chemists, physicists and engineers, having the possibility to extend his/her knowledge approaching the research under different points of view.

    • Development and/or identification of materials (PCM) for thermal energy storage in industrial processes.

    • Experimental characterization and behavioural understanding of such materials.

    • Modelling of the system performance.

    • Design, construction and testing of lab-scale prototypes.

    Qualification requirements


    • Engineering degree with 2-5 years industrial experience.

    • PhD in Engineering will be valuable.

    • Experience in fluid dynamics modelling and prototypes testing at a relevant scale.

    • Experience on materials synthesis and characterization will be valuable.

    • A team player who can collaborate with other groups, technological centers, and industries.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
